Classic Chaos Ignites the Stage Before Thunder Strikes with LV/DC Tribute To AC/ DC Saturday Night Inside Count's Vamp'd Las Vegas

 {May 24, 2025}

Classic Chaos kicked off the night with an electric energy that set the tone for an unforgettable evening of hard rock nostalgia. As the opening act for powerhouse LV/DC (Tribute To AC/DC), Classic Chaos took command of the stage early with their signature look and sound! Performing classics "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", "Panama", and "Summer Of 69". Topping the evening off with Classic Chaos Hot-Front Tammy Lynn performing Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years" with Las Vegas Hardcore lead singer of Cyanide, Rob Hussey

Over an hour of classic rock's most memorable tunes.

My take on Classic Chaos:

This band brings it every time they hit the stage. Saturday night inside Count's Vamp'd was no different. They had a rock-solid performance Saturday night (as usual), with killer sound, killer vocals, killer audio mix, and great stage presence. They're a fun band to watch and to listen to!

Simply, Classic Chaos nailed it!

Listen closely, I hear THUNDER!

LV/DC stormed the stage and took the explosive energy that Classic Chaos had left on stage to a whole new level. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Cian Coey, whose gritty, high-octane vocals channeled the spirit of both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, the band launched into a set of AC/DC classics that hit hard and never let up. Guitarist Keith Robert War, fully embodying the role of Angus Young, tore across the stage in his signature schoolboy outfit, delivering blistering solos with wild abandon and unmatched charisma. Backed by a tight rhythm section, LV/DC delivered an authentic, high-voltage tribute that had the packed house stomping, shouting, and singing along to every anthem. It was a night of pure rock 'n' roll power, Vegas-style.

My Take On LV/DC

LV/DC delivered an absolutely flawless performance Saturday night! With powerhouse vocalist Cian Coey fronting the band, her dynamic range and gritty tone brought a fresh yet faithful edge to the classic AC/DC sound, commanding the stage with her awesome vocal firepower and her rockstar presence. Keith Robert War, stepping into the role of Angus Young, was a force of nature, nailing every blistering solo with precision and charisma, complete with the signature schoolboy swagger.

The chemistry between the band members was undeniable, and their dedication to honoring AC/DC’s legacy came through in every riff and rhythm.

For fans in the crowd, it wasn’t just a tribute—it was the next best thing to the real deal. Hear The Thunder?

This music journalist sure did! The Thunder Of LV/DC!

A Triumphant Farewell: Todd Kerns and Friends Along With Dr. Rock Brings The Heat One Last Time To Count's Vamp'd !

 {May 23, 2025}

{The Private Meet & Greet}

The walls inside Count’s Vamp’d were buzzing louder than usual Friday night as fans gathered and stood in line to meet one of rock’s most electrifying frontmen, Todd Kerns. And to get their picture taken with Todd and his band.

Pictured from left to right.

Jimmie B Romero on lead guitar. Todd Kerns out front on vocals & guitar. My good friend and fellow journalist, Taylor T CarlsonCorky Gainsford on drums. And Barry Barnes on bass.

After everyone got to meet Todd and his band, and have their picture taken with them. The doors opened and Vamp'd filled quickly to capacity with fans and rock stars from all over the US.

The meet-and-greet wasn’t just an autograph session; it was a celebration of community, guitars, and grit, reminding everyone why classic rock still has a pulse in Sin City.

{The Show}

First up for the night was Dr. Rock, one of the longest-running, most successful, and popular bands to ever play Las Vegas!

Dr Rock Band Members:

Dr. Rock Freddie Paguio Lead Vocals, Lou Zaitridge Lead Guitar & Vocals, Kodey Rhoads Lutcavish on guitar & vocals, and William Richards on drums & Vocals.

Dr. Rock delivered a flawless, dynamic performance that perfectly set the tone for the evening, blending classic rock influences with his own brand of music. His setlist included a mix of original compositions (Smile At The Sun) and well-chosen covers (Stone In Love, Bohemian Rhapsody), showcasing his band's musical versatility and deep appreciation for rock traditions. Dr. Rock's commanding stage presence and tight musicianship not only warmed up the crowd but solidified their reputation as a huge force in the local Las Vegas Music scene, leaving the packed house primed and eager for Todd and his friends to take the stage!

On a night that felt more like a backstage pass to the golden age of rock, Todd, with his band, quickly took over the iconic Vegas venue with their awesome music selections (Rebel Yell, Shout It Out Loud, Welcome To The Jungle), and with Todd's signature charm, leather-clad swagger, and a few of his famous friends (Rock Stars) joining Todd and his band during the night onstage. It was like a who's who list of the top stars of rock. Doc Ellis, Al Serrato, Christian Brady, Cassie V. Lapierre Brady, and Brent Muscat left their marks with their signature music during the night. Lol, I just learned that I somehow missed Sebastian Bach showing up to jam "Paradise City" and RUSH with Todd and the band. I did have to leave a bit early to make an East Coast deadline??

{My Take}

Todd Kerns and Friends delivered a powerhouse performance that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. From start to finish, the night was a celebration of pure rock energy, musicianship, and crowd connection. Backed by a talented ensemble of his closest Rock friends, Kerns commanded the stage with his signature charisma and vocal prowess, transforming the intimate venue into a full-throttle rock arena. The evening not only reaffirmed Todd's legacy in the Vegas music scene but also underscored Count’s Vamp’d massive role as a cornerstone for live rock music in our fair city.

It's time to close this chapter of another awesome night in Count's Vamp'd music history with Todd's well-chosen words during his performance of Welcome To The Jungle.

Do You Know Where You Are?
You're In Count's Vamp'd Baby!

What An Awesome Night!

What's Going On In The Local Las Vegas Music Scene ?

I've recently had conversations with knowledgeable longtime fans, with venue owners, with staff members of one of the largest US publishers of music and entertainment magazines, and talks with a few rock stars themselves about what's going on in the Local music scene in Las Vegas. Especially in the classic rock genre.

Here's what I learned from these conversations.

For decades, classic rock has been the heartbeat of Vegas nightlife, pulsing from neighborhood venues, casino lounges, and in cool nightspots and bars where tribute bands and aging rockers have kept the spirit of the ‘70s and ‘80s alive. However, that once-dominant sound is fading into the background, edged out by pop residencies, electronic dance beats, and shifting audience tastes. The city’s music scene is evolving, and classic rock is fighting to hold its ground!

So what's happened to cause these changes in the music landscape?

Classic Rock has an Aging Fan Base

  • Demographics: Classic rock appeals primarily to Gen X and Baby Boomers, many of whom are now less likely to attend late-night club shows. And when they do, they don't have the money to eat and drink like they used to.

  • Decreased Attendance: As this audience ages, they often opt for larger, seated venues or festival-style events, bypassing small clubs.

Fewer New Acts in the Genre

  • Decline in Emerging Classic Rock-Style Bands: Fewer younger bands are adopting the classic rock sound as new genres (indie rock, EDM, hip-hop) dominate the cultural landscape.

  • Lack of Genre Evolution: Unlike pop or metal, classic rock hasn't had a significant modern revival or evolution that attracts new audiences consistently.

Increased Costs for Venues

  • Rising Operational Expenses: Insurance, rent, licensing fees, and staffing costs have all increased, squeezing profit margins.

  • Booking Challenges: Fewer available acts with strong draw power in the classic rock niche make it harder for venues to fill calendars with profitable shows.

Shift Toward Nostalgia Tours

  • Legacy Acts Touring in Larger Venues: Surviving classic rock acts like AC/DC, Kiss (Gene Simmons), and ZZ Top often play arenas or amphitheaters, not local clubs.

  • Tribute Bands Dominate Smaller Scenes: While tribute bands draw crowds, they often command lower ticket prices and don't always sustain long-term venue viability.

Cultural and Industry Shifts

  • Streaming & At-Home Entertainment: Fans increasingly consume music digitally, reducing the drive to seek live experiences.

  • Corporate Consolidation: National promoters and streaming platforms favor larger acts and venues, leaving fewer opportunities for independent clubs and local promoters.

  • Zoning & Gentrification: In many cities, gentrification pushes out small music venues in favor of upscale development.

COVID-19 Impact (Still Lingering)?

  • Loss of Revenue During Closures: Many venues never recovered financially after pandemic shutdowns.

  • Audience Habits Changed: Some fans became less willing to gather in crowded spaces, especially older demographics typical of the classic rock fan base.

Classic rock may no longer rule Las Vegas like it did in the past.
As the city continues to grow and shift, so too does its music scene. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer hungry for raw guitar riffs and nostalgic energy, the soul of classic rock is still here. Just a little bit harder to find.

Long Live Classic Rock. The Music That I Was Brought Up On!

My Tricks Of The Trade On How To Pick The Best Slot Machines In A Las Vegas Casino

One of my major passions in life is playing adult video games, slot machines!

If you're one of my Facebook friends, it may look like I win pretty much anytime that I play. The truth is that I play a lot. So, the odds catch up with me because I'm a daily player.

My Take Yesterday.

There are tricks of the slot machine trade.

Hopefully, some of these tricks will help you win next time you play.

Choosing the best slot machines in a Las Vegas casino can feel like a mix of strategy, superstition, and luck. While slot outcomes are always random, there are ways to improve your experience and potentially boost your chances of winning. Here are a few of the tricks that I've learned over the years.

Understand the Machine Types

Not all slots are created equal:

  • Classic Slots – Simple, 3-reel machines. Great for beginners.

  • Video Slots – 5 reels with advanced features, themes, and bonus rounds.

  • Progressive Slots – Jackpots grow with each play. Huge wins are possible, but the odds are lower.

  • Loose Slots – Machines with higher payout percentages. The holy grail!

Know the RTP (Return to Player)

  • RTP is the percentage of money bet that a machine will pay back over time.

  • Look for machines with an RTP of 95% or higher.

  • You won’t see the RTP displayed in casinos but ask staff or research online (some games have known RTPs by title).

Location, Location, Location

Casino myths say:

  • Slots near high-traffic areas (entrances, shows, buffets) might be “looser” to attract players.

  • Avoid machines tucked away in corners or by table games—they’re often tighter.

Pick a Machine That Fits Your Budget

  • Low Denomination (1¢ - 25¢) = More spins, smaller wins.

  • High Denomination ($1+) = Bigger wins, higher risk.

  • Progressive machines often require max bets to qualify for the jackpot, so make sure your bankroll can handle it.

Play for Fun, Not Just Profit

  • Choose machines with themes you enjoy (movies, music, pop culture).

  • A machine that entertains you will make your experience more enjoyable—even if you don’t hit big.

Bonus Tips

  • Sign up for a player’s card. Earn comps, free play, and rewards.

  • Set a win/loss limit. Know when to walk away.

  • Watch before you play. See how a machine performs for others—it may help you avoid a cold machine.

  • Avoid chasing losses. Every spin is random, no matter what just happened.

{My Take}

My Biggest tip: I play as much as I can at the same two casinos. So, I know the lay of the casino. Which slots pay, and which slots seem to be tighter?
While there’s no guaranteed formula for winning at slots, understanding the types of machines, seeking out higher RTPs, and playing smart with your bankroll can give you an edge. But above all, the real jackpot is having fun. Whether you’re chasing a big win or just soaking up the Vegas vibe, pick a machine that keeps you entertained—and remember, every spin is a new chance to hit it big.

Good luck out there, and may the reels be ever in your favor!

Good Luck!

Could Deep Pockets And A Wing And A Prayer Save The Day For Count's Vamp'd Las Vegas

Over the last week or so, losing one of our most popular Las Vegas local night spots in town has become a very big possibility. There has been a ton of speculation from musicians and fans about how this might play out. Will Count's Vamp'd actually close its doors on June 28th? Will someone purchase the popular Rock Bar and save the day for us fans?

Besides the asking price, it takes some pretty deep pockets to keep a Rock Bar afloat.

How much does it cost to keep the doors open?

Under the neon glow of the Las Vegas skyline, where Elvis impersonators share sidewalks with tourists and slot machines hum in the background, a different kind of entertainment keeps the city’s heart pounding — live rock music. From gritty dive bars to high-energy local clubs, rock venues are a staple of Vegas nightlife. But behind the blaring guitars and flowing drinks lies a far less glamorous reality, running a rock club bar in Las Vegas is a high-stakes financial endeavor. Just how much does it cost to keep the amps buzzing and the beer taps flowing?

The budget for a typical rock club bar in Las Vegas can vary widely depending on size, location, and scope.

Here’s a general breakdown of what you might expect for a mid-sized local venue (capacity: 100–300 people):

If the land and building are purchased. Some of the listed costs below will not pertain.

All costs mentioned are general overall figures. Costs may vary.

Startup Costs (One-Time):

Lease deposit & rent (3–6 months)$20,000 – $50,000
Renovation/build-out (stage, soundproofing, etc.)$30,000 – $100,000
Sound & lighting equipment$20,000 – $75,000
Furniture & fixtures (bar, tables, seating)$10,000 – $30,000
Licenses & permits (liquor, business, health)$5,000 – $15,000
Initial inventory (alcohol, mixers, food)$5,000 – $15,000+
POS system & security$3,000 – $10,000
Marketing & branding (signage, initial promos)$5,000 – $20,000
Miscellaneous (legal, insurance, contingency)$10,000 – $25,000
Total Startup Range$108,000 – $340,000+

Monthly Operating Costs:

Rent$5,000 – $15,000
Payroll (bartenders, sound techs, security)$15,000 – $35,000
Inventory restock$5,000 – $15,000+
Utilities & insurance$2,000 – $5,000
**Entertainment (bands, DJs, etc.)$5,000 – $20,000
Marketing & promotions$1,000 – $5,000
Maintenance & misc.$1,000 – $3,000
Total Monthly Range$34,000 – $98,000+

{My Take}

As you can see by these estimated costs, it takes a ton of dough to keep the club on go!

For fans, a rock club is where memories are made — that first live show, the surprise encore, the night your favorite local band blew the roof off. But behind every epic night is a serious commitment of time, money, and heart from the people who run the place. It’s not cheap, and it’s not easy.

So, until June 28th, be sure to enjoy the moment! Know this, you’re not just watching an awesome band onstage, you’re part of something built on passion, grit, and a whole lot of love!

Info & Tickets

No matter how June 28th plays out. Las Vegas owes Danny and Korie Koker a ton of thanks & respect.

Good luck in the future!

How The 2025 Electric Daisy Carnival In Las Vegas Broke Records and Reimagined the Rave

Well, the EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) has come and gone again.

For those who don't know. The Electric Daisy Carnival is the world’s largest electronic-dance-music festival and one of Nevada’s biggest annual events. For three straight overnights, the Las Vegas Speedway is transformed into a neon playground filled with:

Eight-plus colossal stages—each rebuilt yearly around a different fantastical theme and kitted with cutting-edge LED, laser, and pyro rigs. 2025’s kinetic FIELD features a crystalline “Temple of Light” design framed by 28 moving petals.

Carnival midway packed with thrill rides, interactive art installations, and free-to-ride wedding chapels where thousands of couples have actually tied the knot.

Camp EDC—a pop-up city of 23k campers featuring its own pool, after-hours stages, and wellness programming.

Roving art cars & secret sets—flatbed-truck sound systems that host surprise sunrise DJ sets from A-list acts playing incognito.

EDC leans heavily into rave roots: kandi trading, totem poles, imaginative costumes, and the PLUR credo (Peace Love Unity Respect). Despite the spectacle, Insomniac pushes harm-reduction—free water-refill stations, ground-level medical teams and “Ground Control” volunteers offering earplugs and info.

Revenue engine: With GA passes now north of $575 (fees in), VIP at $1.1 k and on-site spend averaging $110 pp, festival-side gross eclipses $390–400 million.

Regional lift: Hotel sell-outs valley-wide plus “EDC Week” club residencies push total visitor spend toward $1.8 b, according to prior Beacon Economics/LVCVA models.

2025 EDC Attendance and Revenue

Attendance (preliminary): Local officials and Insomniac spokespeople told Las Vegas media outlets that “just over 550,000 people” entered the Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the three-night run, May 16-18, 2025. That breaks the previous record of 525k in 2024. Average nightly headcount was put at 155k Fri / 190k Sat / 205k Sun

Festival-side gross (tickets + on-site spend):

Rough GA, GA+ and VIP price structure this year (after fees) ran $579 / $799 / $1,099 for three-day passes; Camp EDC packages started at $1,169 per campsite.

Using Insomniac’s disclosed 62 % GA – 25 % GA+ – 13 % VIP sales mix and a conservative $110 per-person on-site spend (food, merch, ride tokens), total festival gross tops $390 - 400 million.

Regional economic impact: The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority relies on Beacon Economics for its post-event studies (last published for 2022). Scaling their 2022 multiplier ($1.6 b in total activity on 500k attendees) to the verified 2025 headcount puts overall visitor-generated economic activity at $1.7 - 1.8 billion, with about $100 m in state & local taxes

The LVCVA says its full 2025 report will arrive in late July

The EDC Las Vegas continues to be a cornerstone event in the electronic dance music scene, drawing fans from around the world. With its blend of music, art, and community, the festival offers an unparalleled experience for attendees. And brings in a ton of money for the Las Vegas Community!

Till Next Year!

The Fab Las Vegas Packs The Coverall Lounge Inside Arizona Charlie's Decatur Saturday Night

Have you ever smiled so much that it hurt? That was the case for me and a packed Coverall lounge inside Arizona Charlie's Decatur Saturday night. The Fab Las Vegas took the packed lounge back to the Beatles era on a Magical Musical Mystery Tour! Over 90 minutes of the most memorable Beatles tunes, and The Fab does them all so well!

{My Take - Full Review}

What a fantastic night! From the very first song, The Fab Las Vegas captured the spirit and energy of The Beatles with remarkable accuracy and enthusiasm. The vocals were spot-on—rich, powerful, and effortlessly channeling the tone we all know and love, while the guitar work hit every iconic riff with precision and flair.

The rhythm section kept everything locked in tight, driving each song forward with pulse-pounding momentum. Even the little touches—the stage banter, the outfits, and the classic between-song transitions—made you feel like you were at an actual arena show watching the Beatles perform rather than at a local venue in Las Vegas.

Highlights included a blistering run through of the Beatles' signature anthems, soulful ballads that had the entire crowd swaying, and packing the dance floor from the 1st song till their closing number. Solo's that showcased jaw-dropping technical skill without ever losing the song’s heart. Audience engagement was top-notch too: sing-alongs, call-and-response moments, and plenty of smiles from the stage ensured every person in the room felt involved.

Production values matched the musical quality—crystal-clear sound, vibrant lighting, and spotlights to add drama without overshadowing the performance.

If you’re a longtime Beatles fan looking to relive classic hits or a newcomer curious about what made the Beatles original band legendary, The Fab Las Vegas delivers an unforgettable experience. Don’t miss them the next time they're in town; you’ll walk away humming the tunes that the Beatles made famous and already planning to catch The Fab at their next show in town!

They make John, Paul, George, and Ringo Proud!

Three Lock Box Velvet Chains Headline Count's Vamp'd Las Vegas

Friday night, May 16th, 2025

Arriving at the club.

The familiar rumble of amps echoed from inside Count’s Vamp’d, with a sense of change hanging deeply in the air. Tonight was more than just another rock show with two amazing bands. It was like a love letter to one of Las Vegas’s most iconic live music venues, soon to close its doors after years of championing the city’s classic rock music scene. For fans, musicians, and loyal regulars, it wasn’t just about the bands on stage; it was about honoring the legacy of Count's Vamp'd, a place that's given so many local and touring bands a home and has given thousands of fans (Including Me) some unforgettable memories!

Opening the night was Velvet Chains, who I call one of the fastest rising stars of the hard rock scene. Velvet Chains took the stage and gave the packed house a blistering, high-energy performance. Highlighting the band's dynamic blend of hard rock and melodic hooks. With a BaDD-A$$ look and sound that you won't soon forget!

Band Members: (Pictured Left to Right)

About Velvet Chains - "The fastest rising stars of the hard rock scene".

Velvet Chains’ biggest opportunities so far have been the 2024 South American run with Slash, Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, and the May 2025 Brazil support dates with Stone Temple Pilots.

On the U.S. side, they’ve steadily built local credits, frequently opening for hard-rock mainstays Todd Kerns and L.A. Guns at venues such as Count’s Vamp’d and The House of Blues.

Festival appearances (e.g., Porão do Rock) show the band branching beyond club supports into mixed-genre outdoor bills, exposing them to broader audiences around the world.

This lineup reflects the band's evolution, with Chaz Terra and Philip Paulsen joining in 2025, bringing fresh energy to the group. Long-standing member Nils Goldschmidt, who founded the band in 2018, continue to anchor Velvet Chains' signature sound. Three Lock Box.

To me, Three Lock Box is the next best thing to the Red Rocker himself!

Band Members (Pictured Left to Right)

What can you say about this amazing band? They covered over 20 songs in a little over an hour and a half. Brought in Super Rockers Rob Hussey, John Zito, and Stoney Curtis to heat up the party.

Three Lock Box covered the entire era of Sammy Hagar. From the beginnings of Montrose, to fronting Van Halen, Chickenfoot, to The Circle. Dedicating "Dreams" to the entire staff of Vamp'd, and to owners Danny & Korie Koker. Ending their final performance inside Vamp'd with "There's Only One Way To Rock".

Three Lock Box Set List 5/16/2025

As the final roar of “I Can’t Drive 55” and "There's Only One Way To Rock" dissolved into feedback and the house lights in Count’s Vamp’d snapped from crimson to white, something lingered in the air—part tequila haze, part shared nostalgia, all pure rock-and-roll camaraderie. Three Lock Box didn’t merely revisit Sammy Hagar’s back-catalog; they reminded a packed Vegas room why these songs still rev the collective engine four decades on.

If Count’s Vamp’d truly is steering toward its last curtain call, May 16, 2025, proved it can still throw one hell of a party!

I'll Drink To That!
